Pilates Classes with Eleni Markoulaki
To find out more about BASI Pilates, how it is different from other schools, Mat vs Equipment, and our approach, you can follow the link -->

Pilates Mat Group
At Area 10 we mainly follow the method of the international school BASI Pilates which offers a complete workout for the whole body, with unique precision and dynamic flow. At the same time, many variations or modifications are performed, for variety or to adapt to the level and needs of the students. Also, props are often used, such as foam rollers, rings, elastic bands, and balls in various sizes. The classes are aimed at both beginners or experienced practitioners, who want to develop their practice methodically and progressively. Always following the basic principles of Pilates, with a strong Powerhouse (core) the spine is aligned, we find balance and flexibility , while the muscles acquire alignment without unnecessary volume.

Pilates Equipment
In Pilates Equipment classes, we use the Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair & Spine Corrector. By using equipment, we can target more muscle groups and also treat musculoskeletal conditions such as scoliosis, kyphosis or pain in the neck, waist, shoulder girdle, etc. in a safer & more efficient way.
Because the lessons are only held on an individual or duet level, the practitioner can better understand the method and how it is applied to their own body, but also delve into a more advanced level.
*Classes are held by appointment, to register your interest you can send a message with the days/times that are convenient for you to area10dancepilates@gmail.com or call at 6936856400

Pre/Post Natal Private
During pregnancy, the body changes significantly and Prenatal Pilates exercises are therefore adjusted per trimester. In Pilates classes for pregnant women, we exercise the pelvic floor, transverse abdominis, back, arms, legs, etc., the body is relieved of unwanted pain (e.g. waist, back), while at the same time we prepare for a more painless childbirth, and a faster "recovery" of the body.
Every pregnancy is different, so prenatal classes are private only.

Biography
Eleni Markoulaki came into contact with the Pilates method very early and distinguished it as the ideal type of training for people with musculoskeletal restrictions, such as lower back pain, which has particularly troubled her in the past. After obtaining a B.A in Business Administration (Deree College) and a M.A. in Human Resource Management (Leeds University Business School), and having started a career in marketing and research, she decides to leave this industry behind and now deal professionally and exclusively with Pilates as a teacher.
In 2013, she completed her first training in Classical Pilates with Maria Giannatou, following a program recognized by the international organization Pilates Method Alliance (PMA). There, she completed 500 hours of theory, practice and teaching, in floor exercises (Mat) and with instruments (Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel/Spine Corrector).
In 2016, a second 500-hour training program of BASI Pilates™ (Body Arts and Science International), one of the leading Pilates educational organizations in the world, begins, with instructors Maria Sylla and Georgia Kissa.
He has attended numerous postgraduate seminars with distinguished instructors in the field, on topics such as The Back Care Enigma, Training the Amateur Athlete (Rael Isakowitz), Pre-Post Natal Pilates (Ashley Ritchie), Correcting Kyphosis/Lordosis, Stretching Techniques (Anthony Lett), Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies (Samantha Wood), Pilates Answer to Ageing (Sheri Long), Optimum Shoulder Mechanics (Brandon Gamble) Pilates for the BIG and TALL (Ashley Ritchie), Breast Cancer Recovery through Pilates (Alex. Rossopoulou), Refine & Align (Eduard Botha), Modifications & Adjustments (Richard Orbach) and many more.
As a Certified Pilates Instructor, she has worked at Holmes Place and other smaller venues, while since January 2015 her "home" is now the dance and movement studio "Area 10", where she teaches classes and seminars to small groups of practitioners or individually (personal training).
